February, the coldest, gloomiest time of the year, is a perfect time for cozying up in a romantic, dreamy space.

Light the fire and get out those scented candles. Nothing says romance quite like candles!

While Valentine’s Day is associated with red (hearts & roses) and romance, some of the most romantic spaces in the world are just warm, soft – intimate. And you don’t need to be in a romance to be drawn into it. Consider…

A roaring fire beside a dining table.

Or sensual layers on a corner chaise.

Romantic Colors

And these inherently romantic colors and textures are making a comeback in the warmer color palettes we are seeing this year: blushes, mauves, even beiges.

Beige makes another return, both to soothe and invite endless possibilities as only its seemingly blank canvas can do.

Drapery

Billowing & light, or structured & private, is a lovely way to curate an intimate space where one may either escape or be inspired.

Accents

Accents of golds, brasses, irons, and antique bronzes, offer an abundance of opportunity for a fixed and bold visual impact.

Pillows on the bench of a master bathroom – The Luxury of time.

Browns, creams and blushes.

Finally, we happen to be in the throes of updating the event space for The Inn at Evins Mill and I must mention this location as it’s truly a romantic place. You really must visit there if you are in the area. The spaces are already the epitome of a “warm palette” in the form of rustic stone, woods & beige walls. Here we have refreshed the walls with a fresher, lighter beige, added some dress curtains in a color to blend, wrought iron chandeliers, and carpets in Hunter greens, teals & creams that echo the enchanted woodland beyond.

Before

After

Cheers to the many ways life brings romance.
