Marcelle Guilbeau – Founder, Design Director
Our founder, Marcelle Guilbeau, is known for her soulful designs which reflect her clients’ unique style and become havens for those who dwell within. Sitting down and having a conversation with Marcelle is like entering a Zen garden. Layer by layer, the stresses, and strains that led you to seek her expertise begin to fall away and reveal the best part of the space you want to transform….. Through the use of natural elements like warm rich woods and cool calming stones, Marcelle transforms homes and workplaces into retreats that are functional and beautiful.
Marcelle and her team often layer rustic, Moroccan or coastal elements into a classic, timeless presentation. These unique pairings result from a collaborative exploration of her clients’ passions, tastes, and lifestyles. Marcelle takes her clients on a journey, drawing out their needs and passions to create an oasis that reflects their sense of style and deep values.
Sustainability is important to Marcelle and her team. They often work with reclaimed woods, hand-tufted wool, and heirloom furniture paired with locally made, custom furniture, organic and sculptural in design. One of the sustainable homes designed by Marcelle and husband David Baird of Building Ideas won LEED-Platinum certification and is featured in the book Shades of Green, Tennessee.
Marcelle’s team, studioGUILBEAU, is there to nurture the client’s project from start to completion. This potpourri of creative minds brings to the table expertise in interior architecture and design, kitchens and baths, furniture selection and procurement, custom furniture design, and construction administration. StudioGUILBEAU’s relationships with other talented artisans, such as custom furniture makers, window treatment professionals, and art consultants provide her clients with a seamless experience from concept to delivery.
By partnering with the architecture firm Building Ideas, LLC, Marcelle, and her team offer a full-service Architecture/Interior Design Firm capable of overseeing design and project management in mixed-use, residential, hospitality, retail and commercial arenas.
