In honor of this being a time for holiday cheer, I took to pondering what makes for a “cheerful room.”  The first thing that comes to mind is, flowers!  And it so happens that holiday styling with flowers is really trending right now.

This is a gorgeous holiday dining room setting of my friend Amidie Shaw, from my hometown of Lafayette, LA.  Down in Louisiana, we often fill family heirloom pieces, such as these lovely white pitchers, with camellias and magnolias picked from our yards.

Add a couple of red candlesticks, and you’ve gone from spring to winter.  Well, it turns out Amidie’s one step ahead of the trends these days…

He’s another, by designer Kaylyn Hewitt via the latest edition of Flower Magazine.

And here’s a floral holiday fireplace setting by Birmingham floral designer Holly Carlisle, from the same magazine. I am just swooning over…

Inspired by my friend Amidie, and Flower Magazine, I made a trip to Nashville’s very own Import Flowers and embarked on a little holiday cheer for my office lobby. They had plenty of seasonal materials to choose from…

The only thing that was exactly like Kaylyn’s flowers was the red ranunculus flowers. The kind assistant at Import Flowers recommended the green block to hold the flowers in place, in lieu of the chicken wire which Kaylyn had used. I added some traditional holly and softened it with wilting greenery and tiny white lilies. Back at the office I got out my vintage tureen which I love to style with and got to work…

And here is the result! With the help of some additional berries from a generous client who got into the action with me, I avoided looking too Valentines…

I also changed out the pillows to red and brought out the holiday red gift box, white doves, and white votive candles. Ready for some wine and a little holiday cheer?

I hope you’re enjoying my seasonal holiday blogs series. Next week’s blog will be on,‘Winter essentials – Splash of Red Across the Soul Styles.’  I’ll be sending updates to my newsletter. Feel free to share and sign up below. Happy Holidays!
